Anastasia-Beverly-Hills-Dip-Brow-Review-Tutorial.png

While sitting at a bar the other day, a woman came over to me and said “wow, you’re all about your brows, huh?” I was completely taken aback because I didn’t think my brow makeup was anything spectacular. At this time, I was using Benefit’s goof proof . I love that brow product but after that nice lady’s compliment, I felt I had to experiment with different brow products and share my knowledge with the word. This Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($18) has been all over the blogosphere recently so since I “am all about my brows,” I just I had to try it. I purchased the pomade in shade “medium brown” and also purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brush #12 ($18) and I was so glad I did. This product goes on so smoothly and makes it so easy to define my brows. I don’t think this product would work as well without the brush that specifically goes with it.

Now, let’s get to the tutorial. First off, I had just gotten my eyebrows waxed so having a proper base always helps when doing your brow makeup. Here’s what my brows look like without any product.

The first thing you want to do is make a line directly above the edge of your nose bone.

You can expect to look a little scary, like this:

Next, start filling in where you just drew the line towards your actual brow. It’s easiest to keep making upward lines and keep filling in between the lines. Then, you want to make a line along the bottom of the brow. Lastly, the arch should be about 3/4 of the way down of your natural eyebrow length. So, fill that in so it goes a little bit higher than the rest of the brow. Finally, just fill in the rest of the brow.

Take a look at the finished product:

There ya have it, folks! I hope this was helpful. Did this make any sense at all? Sometimes, I feel like I have a hard time explaining directions but hopefully you get the gist!

amaz.jpegI swear the retail gods keep making sales so I go permanently broke. I’ve found so many good deals this week and my carts are chock full! Check out what’s currently in my cart and making me dream about hitting that glorious “checkout” button.

First off, Macy’s is having an incredible sale. Not only are most items on sale but they are also an extra 20% off w/ code DAD + free shipping over $49. Here’s what’s currently in my cart or you can shop the whole sale here.

wicw.jpg

  1. Kensie Pom Pom Top – This top is seriously adorable. The pom poms give it just that extra touch of cuteness. ($26.39 w/ code DAD)
  2. Vince Camuto Lace Up Heels (coupon excluded but 50% off!)
  3. Scalloped Top – Stitch Fix sells an incredibly similar top (Papermoon Violeta) that was extremely popular. This one looks almost exactly the same and is much more affordable! ($28.79 w/ code DAD)
  4. Chambray Dress – This dress is just so cute that it really doesn’t need any description. ($54.24 w/ code DAD)

Saks Off 5th Avenue is also having a great sale this week. They’re offering an extra 20% off all made in the USA items w/ code USA20. Unfortunately nothing in my cart applies for this sale but everything I picked is still a great deal!  Shop my picks below or check out the entire sale here.

  1. Pistola Crimson Pants – ($29.99) I love this brand of jeans! Now, I know what you’re thinking…maroon is more of a fall color than summer. And you would be right, but fall will come again! It can be incredibly difficult to find a pair of maroon pants in the fall so why not stock up now?
  2. Vigoss White Cropped Jeans ($39.99) – This is another brand of jeans I seriously love! I’ve been looking for a cropped pair of white jeans and these fit the bill!
  3. Vigoss Cropped Jeans – ($29.99) – Have I mentioned I love this brand of jeans?

Last but certainly not least is my Nordstrom cart. Since there is always a good sale at Nordstrom, there is ALWAYS something sitting in my cart. This week I wanted to put together an outift. I think the striped tee with the shorts and sandals will look great together!

  1. Halogen Flutter Sleeve Top – ($23.40) I love flutter sleeves and stripes so this top was the perfect combination!
  2. Articles of Society Shorts – ($29.40) I love this brand of jeans so I’m assuming I’ll love the shorts just as much!
  3. Bobeau Bell Sleeve Top  ($29.40) I’m a total sucker for anything bell sleeved.
  4. Dolce Vita Sandals ($44.96) – I have recently become obsessed with this color and since these are now 40% off, I think I have to have them!

And there you have it, folks! What do you think of my picks?

EngagementAnnouncementIdeas forSocial Media (2)

Before I jump into this next post, I recently reached 50 followers and wanted to say a quick THANK YOU! After becoming self hosted through Bluehost, which you can get here, I realized that my posts were no longer showing in the “reader.” Therefore, I’ve had to work harder to gain followers and it’s definitely been more challenging than I thought. So, a HUGE THANK YOU is in order to all those who have followed me.

Now onto the post. I recently watched a free webinar by Melyssa Griffin explaining tips and tricks on using pinterest. To be honest, I was pretty clueless as to how pinterest worked or how it can be effective in gaining more viewers. But, after watching this video, I feel like I have more knowledge on how it works and wanted to share a couple things I learned. Unfortunately, the webinar that I watched doesn’t seem to be available anymore but if you are interested in watching any of Melyssa’s other videos, check her out on youtube. You can also check out her website here.

1. Pinterest Is Similar To A Search Engine

Pinterest is more similar to Google than it is to Twitter or Instagram. Therefore, your hashtags are irrevelant and unecessary. Instead, you want to focus on descriptions that people would be searching for like they do on Google. It’s also important to use more than just one word descriptions. For example “ootd” is a very generic search term and will most likely get lost in a sea of thousands of other “ootd” pins. Instead, use terms like “how to wear white in winter” or “ways to wear leopard flats.”

2. Become a Curator Not A Hoarder

It’s important to remember that your pinterest is for your viewers and NOT for you. For example, if you’re a travel blogger, your viewers probably don’t want to see pins about kale salad or home decor. So, make sure everything you pin will attract the right audience to your blog.

3. Include Your Content In Your First Board

When you are organizing your Pinterest boards, make sure you put all of your own pins from your blog onto your first board. You want people to see your own pins first in order to draw attention to your blog and hopefully convert them into readers. You can easily drag and drop this board to the front.

4. Pin EVERYTHING From Your Blog

Make sure to pin EVERY image from your blog. This includes all featured images that have titles on them. I wasn’t doing this because I didn’t realize that pinterest was more like a search engine than say, Instagram. You’ll see below that I pinned all my “featured images” to the first board.

5. Free Updates Page

This wasn’t a pinterest tip but I thought it was a good idea. Melyssa suggested to add a page in the menu offering “free updates” with an opt-in page. She made a valid point saying that a viewer is more likely to opt-in to receive emails if they actually have to go to the page to do so.  A viewer is less likely to sign up for emails from one of those annoying opt-in pages that flash when you first go to th website.

I only recently implemented all of these changes but in the past couple of days, I’ve noticed I’ve gotten a few visitors from pinterest that I otherwise wouldn’t have had. Like, everything in life, this is going to take some time but I’m willing to continue to make upgrades and wait patiently for greater results.

So, what do you think of these tips? Have you tried any of them? Don’t forget to check out my Pinterest here!

p.s. here’s an outfit pic I wore over the weekend because this is a fashion blog after all.

CREATE YOUR OWN (1).png

After the success of my last “create your own Stitch Fix”, I thought it would be fun to do another one for June. If you aren’t sure what Stitch Fix is or haven’t tried them yet, check out my latest review here. I challenged myself again to only include Stitch Fix brands but at lower prices. If you are familiar with Stitch Fix, you know that each fix contains 5 items and a note. I again created two different “fixes.” With the warmer weather approaching, I created these “fixes” with summer in mind. Allright, let’s get on to the clothes!

For this first “fix” , I wanted to create the perfect summer look. Layer the Kensie kimono over the Lush side split tank and pair it with the Kut from the Kloth shorts, Kensie necklace, and Nine West sandals! Best part about this fix, is that the entire outfit is less than $104!

 Kensie Necklace ($9.59)
Kensie Kimono ($14.97)
Lush Side Split Tank ($20.40)
Nine West Sandals ($23.98)
Kut from the Kloth Shorts ($34.97)
TOTAL: $103.91

This next “fix” focuses around a couple outfits you can make with this pair of Lucky Brand white capris. Pair the capris with the Lucky Brand crochet top and add the Nine West wedges to complete the look. For date night, swap out the crochet top for the Kensie Cold Shoulder top, add a pair of black heels (from your closet) and the Nine West studded bag to create the perfect sexy date night outfit.

Lucky Brand Crochet Top ($22.31)
Lucky Brand Capris ($47.99 w/ code SUMMER)
Nine West Wedges ($30.99)
Kensie Cold Shoulder Ruffled Sleeve Top ($20.23)
Nine West Studded Bag ($24.50)
TOTAL: $146.02

If you are interested in scheduling an actual fix, you can fill out a style profile here. Which “fix” do you like better?
