THE LONG & SHORT OF SHORT SHOPPING.png

Shopping for shorts can be an extremely daunting task. As I get older, the summer seems to get shorter and shorter much like denim shorts! Once you reach a certain age, the only cheeks that should be showing are the ones on your face, am I right? I’ve tried on a bunch of pairs of shorts this season and found that the sweet spot is around the 3.5″ to 4″ inseam. Although a couple “short shorts” did surprise me!

I’m going to break down my favorite shorts I’ve found this year in all different washes, inseams, colors, and hems!

Perfect Length

IMG_4402.jpg{ShortsHeels}

First off, these shorts from Old Navy are in that perfect length sweet spot. These have a 3 1/2 inch inseam and I find them true to size. I’m wearing in the medium wash in size 4.

33469259_895069720695801_8829505492653965312_n.jpg{ShortsTankShoes}

Can you believe these shorts are from JCPenney?? Not only are they super affordable but they’re also super cute and a perfect length with a 3 1/2″ inseam!

Although the thought of Abercrombie might give you horrific high school flashbooks, they really are coming full circle! Plus, any pair of shorts that make my sweet little kitten look at me like that are a winner in my book! These were true to size for me and have a 3.875″ inseam.

Distressed

{JeansTeeSandals}

The SP black brand from Nordstrom was a favorite of mine last year so, I knew I had to try a pair from this season. Although these say they have a 2″ inseam, I think the fraying makes them look longer. These ran true to size and I’m wearing in a size 4.

33602781_895965430606230_859408421760270336_n.jpg {ShortsSweaterSandals}

Have you heard that Target’s not just a store for dryer balls but, their clothing has actually become “cool?” Well, now you know and knowledge is power, my friends. This pair from the new Universal Thread line is all sorts of cute. The distressed edges and uneven hem gives it  a little somethin’ special. These do have a shorter inseam at 2’5″ but I still pretty safe wearing them. Makes sure to size up in this pair.

32821384_891797534356353_191478163270795264_n.jpg{TankShortsSandals}

At first glance, these might look short. Don’t get me wrong, they do look short but they actually have a 4″ inseam! I just love the distressing with the embroidery! It just makes me feel a little bit fancy. I find these true to size and wear size 4.

Colored Shorts

Old Navy has been killing the shorts game! I loved their denim shorts so much (pictured above) that it was a no brainer to try another pair. I’ve never been a chino lover myself but I think it’s the pretty pale pink that did me in. These also have a great inseam of 3 1/2″.

One more pair from Old Navy for the cheap seats in the back! This is a great look for the 4th of July and these shorts are definitely one of my faves! I don’t fit that they’re see through at all and they fit true to size.  p.s. anyone spot the kitten doing a handstand?

Pull- Ons

Can we take a minute to praise the creator of pull-ons? I can fit all the bacon I want into my mouth and not have to unbuckle my pants! Soft, comfy, and the perfect length. Does it get any better than that? p.s. is anyone sick of kittens yet?

Guys, these have pom poms on them…does it get more fun that? The answer is no, my friends. These are another great length with a 3″ inseam. I find these true to size and am wearing in size small.

Have I mentioned that I can eat all the bacon I want in these? Well, folks, I sure can!! These are another winner from Target that have a great length and great comfort level!

lineAnd there you have it! This post might have been a little long for a “short” post but that’s my complete list of all the shorts I’m loving this season! So, go get your shorts on and enjoy that summertime sun 🙂

Well, now that it’s almost summer, I figured it was a great time to put up a post about spring clothing must-haves. 😳 Gosh, why am I ALWAYS so behind in life? Oh well,  better late than never, right? So even though I’m late in the game, I’ve put together a little list of five must-haves for spring for your viewing enjoyment.

1. T Shirts, T Shirts, T Shirts!!!

Tees are definitely a must for spring. I find myself more often than not, grabbing a simple tee, jeans, and flats or sneakers than anything else in my closet.

32267035_888975071305266_8578650978474000384_n.jpg
{TeeJeansSandals}

This spring I’ve found a new love for whimsical tees with things on them like flamingos, lemons, and graphics. I’ve found that people are much nicer to you while wearing a flamingo on your chest.

32264030_888958097973630_1130928063710756864_n.jpg
{TeeJeansWedgesPurse}

A plain white tee is an absolute essential for spring. It can be quite difficult to find the perfect white tee but I’m pretty sure this is the one. It’s crazy soft, not sheer and doesn’t wrinkle easily!

{TeeJeansFlats}

I mean who doesn’t want to walk around with lemons on their torso?? They just make me smile 🙂

2. Flats

Flats are an absolute must for spring! The weather is typically not warm enough for sandals but not cold enough for fully closed shoes. The happy medium is flats! This year, I’m gravitating towards bright colors as well as patterns.

{Flats}

Wanna make a statement? These flats will do the trick! Comfy and super affordable as well!

{TankJeansEspadrilles}

Sole Society has completely won me over!!! These leopard espadrilles just make me all sorts of happy + they’re comfy to boot (or should I say to they’re comfy to flat?) Save 15% w/ code FIRST15!

{Yellow Flats}

Not much I can say about these except I’m completely obsessed!! The bow, the color, the comfort, oh my!! Use code FIRST15 to save 15%.

3. Light Cardigans

Springtime weather can be extremely unpredictable. I always like to carry around a light cardigan in case it gets chilly.

I must be a brave soul to wear a white cardigan but will definitely not be wearing it while out to eat at an Italian restaurant!

I love, love, love these cardigans!! Super lightweight and just perfect for that springtime weather.

4. Colored/Embroidered Jeans

31749578_884171368452303_7854828949057044480_n.jpg{Jeans, Wedges}

Again, I am a brave sould for wearing white jeans. I also wouldn’t recommend wearing these while eating a big bowl of spaghetti. However, I just loooove my white jeans in the spring and also into the summer. They’re just so “spring-like!”

31230113_880106532192120_2527225776333844743_n (1).jpg
{Sweater, JeansWedges}

Embroidered jeans are my jam this spring! Plus, Abercrombie’s coming back in a big way. My teenage self would make fun of me for still wearing their clothing at 31 years old but what does she know? She’s just a silly teenager.

31131813_879600932242680_1317361483699965734_n.jpg{TopJeansFlats}

I know that the thought of “perriwinkle” jeans may make you cringe but boy are they cute! You can actually pair so much with them and they scream spring just about as much as your kids scream “mom!”

26992766_835878339948273_3838328006089683195_n.jpg{JeansLoafersNecklace}

Last but not least in the “colored pants I think you need” section is PINK! I highly suggest you pick up a pair and get tickled pink!

5. Bralettes

Bralettes are such a HOT trend this spring. If you don’t know what these are, they are similar to a bra but have less support and prettier details. Bralettes are meant to be shown through your top unlike bras that we like to hide.

29541478_866793643523409_1842175254002568206_n (1).jpg
{BraletteTopJeansFlats}

Anytime I can look like a giant bowl of sherbet is a win in my book! I prefer to wear my bralettes with off the shoulder tops. I love the little bit of lace that shows and plus you don’t have to wear a strapless bra!! Winner winner, chicken dinner.

IMG_4143.JPG
{BraletteTankJeansSandals}

OK, so this Free People bralette is extremely popular among the blogosphere but I just can’t figure out how to wear it! I know it’s supposed to peek through but it doesn’t go up high enough on me to peek out the top. Maybe it’s too big? Maybe it’s my boobs? Yeah, we’ll just blame it on them.

Well, there you have it folks! Stay tuned for the top 5 Summer Must-Haves in the fall 😛

I

I don’t know about your mom but mine is getting sick of my ceramic hand print every year. Just kidding, I haven’t given her one of those in 5…errr I mean 25 years. It’s also pretty clear she doesn’t need any more macaroni necklaces so, it’s definitely a struggle figuring out what she actually WANTS!

My mom has also told me time and time again that she doesn’t want me spending a lot on her.  So, to keep her quiet happy, I typically don’t spend more than $50. I hope this under $50 gift guide will help you as well!

3. I bought my mom this himalayan salt lamp for Christmas and she looves it! Or, at least she claims to!

4. This chakra necklace claims to promote beauty, health, good luck, and healing…what mother wouldn’t want that?

5. I mean who doesn’t love Joanna Gaines? Since her decorating skills are so good, it’s easy to assume her recipe book will be just as good! This book will be released on 04/24 but you can preorder it now!

6. Give your mom a little reminder of positivity with this “inspire” bracelet.

7. This scalloped tote is just gorgeous and so perfect for spring! I may just have to order this one for myself 🙂

When I started this blog (a little over a year ago) my intention was to well…blog. Over the past year, I’ve been focusing so much on my Facebook page that I’ve been neglecting my own little space on the interwebs. One of my goals this year has been to blog more but, it’s now April and I’ve epically failed. So, today I’m going to write a little life update and see how that goes!

lineTHE GOOD

Let’s start with the good! I have an upcoming trip planned to Atlantic City this weekend and I could not be more excited! We stay at the Resorts casino and I swear they have the BEST burger place there! I’m literally salivating as I write that. I’m planning on hitting up the casinos and said burger joint in the outfit below:

lineMORE GOOD

I was recently sitting at a restaurant bar and noticed Kevin from last season’s Big Brother walk by. I immediately left my boyfriend at the bar and my bar seat spinning! I went out the door and ran after him down the street. To say I’m a fan of Big Brother would be an understatement. I’ve been watching since day one and can honestly say I haven’t missed an episode. Luckily, Kevin was extremely nice and didn’t even wanna call the cops after telling him I just chased him down the street.

lineTHE GOOD/BAD

If you’ve been following me on Facebook, you may have seen that my sweet kitty, Myles, recently passed away. He was diagnosed with a diseased called FIP and the decline was swift. I had never heard of this awful disease before and have been trying to educate myself as much as possible. He was my best little buddy and to see him suffer like that was almost unbearable.

It’s been almost three weeks now and my heart still hurts. I miss him every.single.day. You may be wondering why I put this under the “good/bad” category, huh? But, I figure the “good” in all this is that we are currently trying to adopt another cat that doesn’t currently have a home. I’ve been struggling on whether to get another cat because I know there will NEVER be a way to replace Myles. However, I’ve realized that there’s so many cats out there that don’t have homes and just because I love another one doesn’t mean I’m replacing Myles by any means.

lineTHE BAD

I’ve had a raging sinus infection for about a week now (see a picture of my swollen face in the picture right above.) It feels like a piano is permanently attached to my forehead. Seriously, how long does it take for these stupid things to go away??

Well, that’s it for now! Hopefully I can hold myself accountable to this blogging thing and be back with another post soon!
